The changing composition of exhaust air of bioprocesses and bioreactors, respectively, provides valuable information about the status of the metabolism of microbial or cell cultures. Unlike traditional exhaust gas analysing systems HiSense™ provides, beside OTR and CTR, the bioprocess parameters OUR, CER as well as the RQ.
This is achieved by very precise oxygen detection sensors with a low interference to ensure long-term stability combined with an extremely low-noise drift. CO2 detection uses a NDIR-Photometer and flow sensors with very small errors in zero-point and slope calibration.
A novel measurement technique makes precise detection possible, even at low respiration activities due to very small concentration differences as well as low gas flow rates. Factors like total pressure or humidity, which influence a precise measurement, are considered by mathematical corrections. Especially long cultivation periods at low metabolic activities may have a major effect onto the results.
A connection to other devices for operational and controlling purpose is possible via a user pc with applicable gas flow rates, ranging from1,8 to 100.000 Ln/h.
