Universities and other non-commercial educational and training institutions can request a free version of RI-CAD.
By applying for a license, you accept our privacy policy.
How it works
First, download and install the RI-CAD demo version* on your computer. When the demo starts, click the "Activate" button.
A hardware ID will be displayed.

* The demo version has the following limitations:
- Created documents cannot be saved or printed.
- Elements cannot be copied.

Questions & Answers
HITEC ZANG GmbH provides a free educational version of RI-CAD™ to all universities and other non-commercial educational and training institutions. This applies to instructors, lecturers, trainees, students, and similar groups.
Please fill out the form above, providing your name, email address, educational institution, intended use, proof that you belong to the eligible
group, and the hardware ID. After accepting the privacy policy, submit the form and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
For professors, lecturers, and students, providing a university email address is sufficient.
When providing a personal email address, valid proof of identity is always required.
Providing a personal email address for the school in question is also acceptable. Instructors and other teaching staff can email us in advance to request licenses for a group. In practice, sending us the hardware IDs individually—for example, in an Excel spreadsheet—has proven to be an effective method.
We generally distribute RI-CAD™ as commercial software. Authorized users, as defined by the company (see above), receive a free version for non-commercial use. The provider may refuse to grant a license without providing a reason.
Different rules apply to institutions.
Once we have received your request, we will review your information. Typically, activation keys are sent to the email address you provided within 3 business days, provided the review is successful. In some cases, it may take a little longer, for example, due to long weekends, holidays, vacation periods, etc.
The license is valid for a period of three years from the date of issuance. Use of our RI-CAD software beyond the end of the training period is not permitted. Any further use will be considered commercial and will be billed retroactively at the currently applicable rate.

The free training version is intended solely for training purposes. This includes typical tasks such as learning how to create flowcharts. For use in publications, such as presentations, theses, etc., a reference to HITEC ZANG GmbH and its website https://ri-cad.de is required. Any other use free of charge requires the written consent of HITEC-ZANG GmbH.
Any other use violates the license
will expire, and the RI-CAD software will immediately become subject to a fee. The educational version generates documents with a watermark that may not be removed.
The hardware ID is a unique identification number generated by the RI-CAD software. It is unique and changes only in the event of hardware modifications or unauthorized tampering.
You can find it in the startup dialog behind the "Activate" button, or in the fully launched program under the "Activate" option in the Help menu.
